Good morning!
i apologize i know i haven’t made an update in awhile, i was waiting for more information before i posted.
. . . So it is true, AB210 has died. . . Voepel pulled it due to advice from the assembly. However 2 new bills have been released in its place.
Both bills are centered and worded to be more a niche population around historic and special interests vehicles. This is good and bad, a step in the right direct to getting exemption to some, however not the blanket group that AB210 would have helped.
The 2 bills being introduced, AB1972 with was released be Voepel (same as ab210) which is poorly written (in my opinion) (also have heard it could be rewritten before vote) is centered around historic and special interest vehicles but sounds it very restrictive on what vehicles will be allowed in (modified probably out of luck)
The second is AB2225 introduced by Grayson (D). It is also centered around historic vehicles, but only requires getting a historic plate which would be easier to obtain,(i believe) but also would probably exclude daily driven vehicles, which i don’t like.
I will be waiting to see if AB1972 will be rewritten, but personally as of right now i will shifting my efforts to support of AB2225 i believe it will help more and be easier to obtain exemption, also it has been introduced by a Democrat so getting bipartisan support to get passed appears to more likely to me. I will continue to make updates as soon as i get hearing dates and new information, you can also get updates information at the “Californians for smog exemption” Facebook page it is updated pretty quickly when new information is released, . . . I also believe the group should choose one bill and support it instead of splitting for both Bill which might not get enough support for either.
Thank you for your time, effort, consideration and support. . . Let’s continue the fight!
