REPEAL California's AB5-law NOW, so Freelancers can Earn A Living During Corona Crisis
The Issue
As an FREELANCER with many skills, I have always been able to use my talents and monetize them, in order to make a living, whether it was in person or digitally. I am a healthy person and am willing to work every day.
HOWEVER, California recently passed AB5, which limits the freedoms of freelancers like me to make money.
Due to the CORONA VIRUS CRISIS, I am forced to find other means to make a living, and I mean, IMMEDIATELY!
On Sunday, March 15, I tried to apply for digital work on a website that offers translation, subtitles, captions, and transcription services.
BUT I was SHUT OUT from the application process, because I was told that my location identifies me as being in California, and therefore, I am not allowed to apply due to the AB5 law.
I THEREFORE PETITION THAT YOU REPEAL AB5 - IMMEDIATELY, INDEFINITELY & PERMANENTLY - FOR FREELANCERS IN CALIFORNIA DURING THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC CRISIS and beyond, so Freelancers can earn a living either in person or digitally, as we did before the AB5 law was put in effect.
We are a society where we need to take care of each other, and it is on YOU, the lawmakers, to SERVE your constituents. In general, but in this crisis in particular, you have a responsibility to make sure, we are ALL taken care of, not just the lucky ones who are fortunate enough that the law is on their side.
I URGE YOU to live up to this responsibility!
May we all be healthy, strong, and show how evolved of a society we are by being leaders who make wise choices that benefit ALL people.
