Declawing of cats is NOT nail trimming, it's full amputation of their toes to the last joint.  It can cause lifetime health and behavior issues for the cat. And even worse, the issue of cat scratching that many people think it solves, is EASILY and QUICKLY addressed with specific behavior modification processes.

In 2003, State Assembly Bill AB375 was proposed to ban declawing in CA.  It was strongly opposed by the AVMA and was defeated.  A few cities in California passed bans - Los Angeles, San Francisco, Burbank, Santa Monica, Berkeley, Beverly Hills and Culver City.  But - with, again, the help and support of the California VMA, bill SB672 was passed to make it impossible for any county or city to ban declawing, unless the whole state did.

So, its time.
