The California housing shortage has reached crisis proportions. From 2010 to now, the Bay Area has added 722,000 jobs but constructed only 106,000 housing units. The jobs and opportunity are here, but without sufficient housing, prices have shot through the roof. Long-time residents as well as newcomers are suffering the consequences.

We need a bill that will allow more housing of all kinds in exclusionary neighborhoods with good transit and good jobs. We need to protect those at risk of displacement. If we are going to reach our climate goals and bring down the cost of housing, we must allow more infill housing to be built in neighborhoods all over California. 

The More HOMES Act, aka the More Housing, Opportunity, Mobility, Equity and Stability Act (a revised version of SB827, now known as SB 50) has been proposed by a coalition of legislators including Senator Scott Wiener.
