Did you know that the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) causes cancer? It’s also the most common sexually transmitted infection in the United States and approximately 80% of all sexually active people are infected.

There are two types of HPV: the kind that causes cancer and the kind that causes genital warts. Trust us, you don’t want either type, so thankfully there’s a vaccine that can protect you against both. The HPV vaccine protects against the most common strains of the virus, which means it’s never been more important to make sure everyone has access to this vaccine.

Over 300,000 young people across California need and want the HPV vaccine, but aren’t able to easily access it. Currently, insurance plans are required to cover the HPV vaccine for minors. Unfortunately, uninsured minors are left without coverage and without support to pay for the HPV vaccine. This is a problem.

Right now, the California State Assembly is considering a bill (AB-1965) to expand a government program called Family PACT to provide insurance coverage for the HPV vaccine for uninsured minors in the state. We need your help! Help us make sure that everyone has access to this life saving vaccine.
