We, the undersigned petition the California Public Utilities Commission regarding Southern California Edison’s Application (A.15-04-013).  This Application provides for an aerial transmission system to be built in our community that fundamentally degrades the environment, harms appropriate development in our communities, and produces completely unacceptable visual damage in the area.  

SCE has already agreed to change its original project design by undergrounding sections of this project elsewhere.  It is completely unacceptable that the remaining aerial sections of the transmission line will not be undergrounded, particularly in light of the environmental justice issues related to this project.  

We request that the Commission carefully evaluate all other options, particularly those related to new technologies such as energy storage applications.  As a last resort, we urge undergrounding of the sections not already proposed to be undergrounded by SCE.  Indeed, the Commission has sought its own environmental review, and a draft SEIR has been circulated concluding that undergrounding is the superior alternative.
