California's Office of Lt. Governor is a ceremonial, just-in-case position, spending about $3 million/yr with nothing really to do. It is the butt of media jokes about its lack of real purpose that only gets louder around election time. That's it. A few speeches, a banquet or two and nothing. Some say it should be abolished. We don't. We say there is an important job for that office that neither the governor nor the legislature can do.

That is correct. The one thing everybody talks about, but neither the Governor nor the Legislature have time to attend is California's future. The visions and the ideas that would make our future better, brighter and more forward looking for all Californians hardly get noticed. The government is just too busy taking care of one crisis after the next. There are many ideas out there, but our government simply does not have the time or political will to look at them. They are the proposals that wind up in the 3rd waste basket of some 4th Assistant before anyone even reads them.

Instead, we propose that the Office of the Lt. Governor be given the responsibility of soliciting ideas and proposals for California's future from all our citizens and institutions and businesses. As our 'Office of the Future', it can then cull the best of those ideas and prepare them for serious consideration by our Governor and Legislature for possible action to implement or at least pave the way for the ones that have the most promise.

THAT'S IT. PUTTING THOSE $3 MILLION DOLLARS TO WORK PAYING DIVIDENDS FOR ALL CALIFORNIANS, RATHER THAN BEING SPENT DOING NOTHING.  WHAT DO YOU THINK?  WILL YOU SIGN ON?
