Ban Dogs from the back of pickup truck

The Issue

Each year, about 100,000 dogs die from being in the back of pickup trucks. (Humane society of Utah).  There are thousands of car accidents everyday.  With that in mind, having a Dog in the back of a pickup truck is very unsafe even if it is leashed or protected.  With a collision, the Dog could be injured or killed instantly.  Pickup trucks are not meant to have living beings in their open beds as a seat. The back of a truck doesn’t have seatbelts or anything that can keep people or animals safe. At high speeds on the freeway or even if you’re not paying attention, the dog will not be able to stand crashes.
Banning animals in pickup trucks will increase the safety of animals. Many people do not realize how dangerous it is. Dogs love open air, so it is understandable why people do this. People just need to know that this is not safe.
Dogs are just like humans, they need water, food, oxygen, and sunlight. When you put a dog in the back, it’s like putting a human there.  Please sign this petition if you want to ensure Dogs’ safety.
