I am a retired Registered Veterinary Technician, trainer and dog sitter. Because of the recent ban on work visas, a client called me in a panic because he needed to find his beloved dog a new home in just a few short weeks, as he had to leave the U.S.. He wanted to know she would be safe and loved, knowing he would never see her again. I realized there must be hundreds, even thousands of pet owners in the same situation. I would like to find a national level rehoming organization for these animals to find new homes. I'd like to raise awareness to this cause to our government, animal welfare groups and the community to help ease the minds of pet owners who are forced to leave our country because they cannot renew their work visas. No matter your politics, I think everyone can agree how heartbreaking it can be for an owner to lose their pet and a pet to lose their owner. With the stress of having to leave the U.S. when you are here legally, pack up everything, close accounts etc., most of these pets will be brought to shelters where they will have a few days to be adopted and then euthanized. Now I know your thinking there are a lot of rescue organizations out there, I have posted on a few but my posts are taken down because these are not lost/found pets. However, animals in these situations need placement asap! I ask for your help in getting the word out.
