Dear friends:
One more "detail"of Climate Change that humans have overlooked has just popped up: vital sections of the Internet infrastructure are going to be underwater in the near future, as Climate Change-induced sea level rises inundate Internet infrastructure not built to be underwater.
Humanity can not afford not making Climate Change Action the core organizing principle to transform our societies and economies.
Why not spend NOW billions (and possibly trillions) of dollars in Climate Recovery and Climate Change Adaptation when the option is to live (if you are lucky) in a destroyed world where dollars are worth nothing because economies have vanished.
"The situation is particularly dire for internet infrastructure in New York City, Miami and Seattle.
The effects would likely ripple across the internet, potentially disrupting global communications.
"The expectation was that we'd have 50 years to plan for it," one expert says. "We don't have 50 years.""
The scientists predict that by 2033 more than 4,000 miles of buried fiber optic cables will be underwater and more than 1,100 traffic hubs will be surrounded by water, according to the researchers."
Keep on promoting this petition and waking up the societies where you live. We are running out of planet.
