Dear friends: In March of 2016 James Hansen et al, published a study were they speculated with high certainty that giant boulders on the Bahamian shores like "The Bull" (2,000 tons) and "The Cow" (1,000 tons) had been tossed by waves from the ocean floor to shore about 120,000 years ago. They also warned that with the new conditions created by Climate Change, higher ocean levels and super storms could produce waves capable of doing that in this century. A very recent study by Ronadh Cox et al, published in December, 2017 (See attachment) has corroborated that storm waves can toss giant boulders onto shore and that, incredibly enough, is already happening. During forceful Winter storms in 2013 and 2014 in Ireland, boulders were moved nearly 100 feet above high waters and about 730 feet inland . Among the rocks moved, 18 of them weighed over 50 tons and six were heavier than 100 tons. The largest that was moved weighed in at 620 tons. So, at about 1 º C increase in average global annual atmospheric temperatures above pre-industrial times, ocean waves have already tossed boulders weighing hundreds of tons. Can you imagine the power of those waves at higher increases like 2º C or more? Can you picture what those waves and boulders can do to coastal cities and ships?
