Dear friends: Climate Change-Related Disasters keep on coming more and more often and in every season but our politicians are still reluctant to even utter the words "Climate Change" or "Global Warming". This trend is also present in Sonoma County, California where after experiencing the deadliest and costliest fires in Californian history in October of 2017, politicians have not uttered in public the C C words (Climate Change) or even the C word (Climate) during and after that catastrophe that destroyed close to 6,000 homes and killed about 25 persons during the fires and hundreds more after the fires. Nevertheless, there is strong interest in the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors to issue a Climate Change Major Disaster Declaration in order to become a Climate Change-Ready County to totally focus on Climate Restoration and Climate Change Adaptation Work. You can help to turn this "interest" into policy for the sake of Sonoma County and of the rest of the world by calling or e-mailing the Chairman of the Board of Supervisors, Supervisor James Gore, to urge him to move the board to immediately issue a public, in-writing, and detailed Climate Change Major Disaster Declaration for the sake of Sonoma County, the nation and the rest of the world. Succeeding in Sonoma County will start a domino effect that will benefit all of you and your loved ones, wherever you are. Once even a relatively small territory, like Sonoma County, acknowledges the Climate Crisis and totally commits to deal with it in all ways, territory after territory will follow suit.
