Stop Poaching!
The Issue
Do you know what poaching means? It means hunting, but WAY worse!!! People hunt animals for unnecessary reasons! Poaching, poaching... doesn’t it sound cool? The answer is a solid NO!
We recently read an article in the news: http://www.rhinos.org/operation-stop-poaching-now, and every 8 HOURS, another rhino is killed at South Africa. It used to be a day, but because of poachers, it changed drastically. The editors of www.rhinos.org said, “We don’t think rhino poaching could get much worse. But it has.” Halfway through 2014, poachers are killing at least three African rhinos each day!
The Javan Rhino is one of the most endangered animals. There are less than 40 Javan Rhinos left in the whole world! That is a huge problem! Humans like to use the rhino’s horn to make medicine. However, this is idiotic because rhino horn has as much medicinal value as chewing your fingernails, AKA, none.
Also, some people just kill the rhino, get the horn, and leave it out in the wild. That is wasting the animal and it can be polluting the jungle. It’s just cruel and inhuman.
Don’t you feel bad for the horribly endangered animal? Everybody should help by stop poaching and polluting their habitat. We, GEL are trying to help all the endangered animals. Here are the top ten endangered animals:
1. Ivory-Billed Woodpecker
2. Amur Leopard
3. Javan Rhinoceros
4. Northern Sportive Lemur
5. Western Lowland Gorilla
6. The Saola—An Asian Unicorn
7. Leatherback Sea Turtle
8. The Tiger
9. Chinese Giant Salamander
10. The Little Dodo Bird
Of course everybody wants to help save these endangered animals, otherwise food chains will collapse!! The easiest way to help is to sign this petition if you agree to ban poaching!
