FFIERCE (Fighting for Informed Environmentally Responsible Clean Energy)
Feb 13, 2017
Last Friday, a FFIERCE Coalition member shared a photo of the public hearing about the toxic Puente Power Plant project in Oxnard. The room was almost empty. This was the day after dirty big energy company NRG seemingly paid over 100 construction workers to offer public comment in support of the plant. While we submitted over 200 petition signatures saying NO and folks offered powerful testimony over the phone and in person, our numbers weren't big enough. We feel we may be losing the battle, but we are still fighting. While the CEC is very shadily being unclear about when they are giving final decisions about the plant, this Wednesday is their LAST HEARING and this one is a CLOSED meeting. We refuse to let them stop us from commenting on this unnecessary and racist project!
Please join us in flooding the CEC site with typed comments in opposition- namely saying that this is ENVIRONMENTAL RACISM (talking points in link)- and spread the word-- anyone can sign.. It shouldn't take more than 3 minutes.
