Allowing UTVs which meet (or can be modified to meet) the standards for street legal vehicles would make it easier for owners to use their UTVs. UTV owners would be able to obtain access to trails that are currently restricted to on highway vehicles only, create a link between trail networks, and allow easy access to fuel stations. 
UTV owners pay highway taxes on fuel, tires, and registration fees, but we are still barred from using the highways that we help fund. As UTV safety technology increases, UTVs have steadily become as safe or safer than many vehicles that are currently considered street legal.
Many of our neighboring states and states across the country have already allowed for the use of UTVs on public roads, putting California behind the curve. As the number of UTV sales in California soars, there are more people that need to stand up for the right to use the roads that we help fund.
