Australian government and industry are involved in widespread practices of horrific abuse and unending cruelty in regards to the slaughter of wild KANGAROOS. It is immoral and unconscionable, and the sale, distribution and purchase of kangaroo parts and products is illegal in California. Kangaroo populations are in drastic decline in Australia, after 30 million years of existence on the continent.

DEMAND THAT CALIFORNIA’S DEPARTMENT OF FISH AND WILDLIFE DO THE RIGHT THING. Investigate and prosecute companies and businesses that profit from illegal kangaroo products in California. Stop them from profiting from unimaginable animal abuse and cruelty. Stop them from violating CALIFORNIA PENAL CODE § 653o:

(a) It is unlawful to import into this state for commercial purposes, to possess with intent to sell, or to sell within the state, the dead body, or a part or product thereof, of a polar bear, leopard, ocelot, tiger, cheetah, jaguar, sable antelope, wolf (Canis lupus), zebra, whale, cobra, python, sea turtle, colobus monkey, kangaroo, vicuna, sea otter, free-roaming feral horse, dolphin or porpoise (Delphinidae), Spanish lynx, or elephant. 

Just as we enforce the law by seizing illegal imports of ivory and pangolin scales, it is critical that authorities do everything in their ability to hold accountable and criminally liable the businesses that blatantly and flagrantly violate California law, allowing them to profit from the heartbreaking abuse and slaughter of Australian kangaroos.

As residents and voting citizens of California, we refuse to accept the unequal enforcement of the law and the continuing and blatant illegal trade of kangaroo parts under the noses of enforcement agencies. It is intolerable and must stop immediately! We demand that California Department of Fish and Wildlife use its full authority to immediately investigate and prosecute companies engaged in the trade of illegal kangaroo parts and products.

If California enforces its current protection laws, it will have an enormous impact on the global kangaroo trade and has the potential to end it once and for all.
