I believe that students, grades 6-12, should not be required to do the homework that is assigned to them by their teachers, but have it if they wish to practice what they have learned over the past week.  One of the reasons as to why we should not have homework is due to the levels of stress that can come with it.  As results have shown, too much stress can lead to sickness, sleep deprivation, and depression. To compromise on this subject. homework should not be taken away completely, only that it is not enforced over the only two school-free days a student has. Instead of doing more work, a student should be spending their Saturday's and Sunday's resting their brain or taking part in any extracurricular activities they enjoy.  I am finding it difficult to comprehend why homework should be assigned over the weekend, other than it is for the student's benefit of practice, which the student already spends doing 5 days a week, 8 hours a day, plus the homework completed on the weekdays. I hope you see from the perspective of a student when reading this and are open-minded to change. Thank you for your time.
