Calderdale Council are proposing to close Hipperholme Library. This is unacceptable.

Bailiff Bridge Library closed recently, and now Hipperholme Library is under threat. We will be the only ward to have lost two libraries in Calderdale.

Hipperholme Library is well used compared with other libraries. Based on the figures available, Hipperholme Library was the 5th most used library in Calderdale, out of 13 libraries. However, we are 1 of 5 libraries being closed. This is disproportionate and unfair.

People of all ages use Hipperholme library. The COVID-19 lockdown has caused social isolation, yet the Council are proposing to close our library which is a social hub. Libraries also improve social mobility, and they are a lifeline for those without computer and internet access.

Please help us stop the closure of Hipperholme Library by signing this petition.
