With the sad news that Mixenden library has been set on fire we want to petition Calderdale Council to reopen it as soon as possible. The Council may try and leave it with saying the new library will be open with the Mixenden Hub. However that has been nearly 10 years in the making with scheduled building works twice postponed within the last year.

The library was not only about books and a place for children to go but for parents to receive advice about anything Council related from events to benefits. It really is part of the social hub for members of the community and vital for those children who are home schooled.

The building would have been insured so we are asking for the Council to please get it reopen ASAP for the people of Mixenden who are all too often forgotten about.
