Friends of the Gualala River, www.gualalariver.org, and Forest Unlimited, www.forestunlimited.org, have joined forces to sue CAL-FIRE over the issuance of a logging permit for Dogwood. Please donate to them, as the cost of legal action is large. We just found out from two sources that the logging company has already begun logging four days ago, despite being served with the lawsuit, and despite our many voices of protest. The next legal step is for the attorney to submit a temporary restraining order. We hope/believe there are many grounds for a judge to grant one. A protest is planned for this Friday, Aug. 12, noon to 1 pm in front of the Gualala Hotel. If you can come, please do. Bring a sign if you'd like. We find it outrageous the Burch family would close their eyes and ears to our pleas to not log the floodplain of the Gualala River. Join us Friday and/or send a check to one of the two organizations who are willing to take on this fight. Thank you, Jeanne Jackson
