I recently became aware that the Caerphilly Council unanimously voted to implement car parking charges at our country parks to raise revenue of £85,000 (which I believe is gross revenue) to help with the running costs of the country parks.

CCBC propose to introduce these charges because of the cutbacks that the Council are facing in their budgets.

We have all suffered as a result of the austerity measures implemented by the Government and we have all; one way or another paid the price for this.

They now propose to take that one thing away from us that helps us to keep fit and healthy and maintains our wellbeing by imposing car parking charges at our Country Parks.

We have paid our taxes, we have paid our council tax for the parks and now they want us to pay car parking charges towards the running costs.

I am saying “NO”, so I started this on-line petition and within two weeks the signatures have reached 1,300 and has now exceed 1300 .

A written petition of over 700 signatures have been obtained and I wish to give a big thank you to Mary Price and her husband Brian for all their efforts with the written petition.
