Based on the latest news from multiple newspapers & social media, travelling by cabs including Ola-Uber is going to be costlier in Pune. As we all know, the public transport system is very bad in the city and auto drivers are never ready to go by meter. Apps like Uber & Ola have been a great help to move around in the city at a reasonable price. The latest development will make cab rides expensive in the city and impact all the Punekars.

Impact on commuters:

Unions & cab drivers are protesting for fares to be hiked to Rs.25/km. If this increase happens then the current Ola-Uber trip from Baner to Pune Airport which costs around Rs.375 right now, will cost as high as Rs.600. This will lead to an extra burden on the commuters by increasing their travel expenses by almost 60%.

Consumer Protection:

The pricing decisions & policies implemented by the transport authorities in the matters of public transportation are inherently driven by public interest. This petition seeks to uphold the principles of consumer protection and ensure that the public is not subject to arbitrary or unjustified fare increases.

Immediate Request

In light of the current situation, we wish to bring it to the notice of all the Pune residents that this sudden increase in fares will adversely affect our daily commute. Also, the threat of an indefinite strike from 5 March by the unions will bring the city to a standstill and impact our daily commute & emergency travel.
