Concessionaires of Tahoe Basin Management Unit of U.S. Forest Service are calling on CA Fish & Wildlife to issue permits to trap and kill Lake Tahoe bears living on public lands in prime bear habitat. These bears are being killed for the crime of seeking food made available to them by careless humans.  Non lethal alternatives are available and effective. We demand these killings stop immediately and the bears' right to exist in their natural habitat be respected.  If current staff is not capable of managing this situation, hire new people who are.  Steve Searles, aka The Bear Whisperer, deputized in Mammoth CA, can provide a good model for managing human/bear co existence.
