It is our position that modalities such as LED light therapy is safe, effective, and does not ablate or destroy live tissue.LEDs are not lasers and the two therapies are dissimilar in their purpose and operation. Unlike lasers, LEDs cannot ablate skin. LEDs produce low-power, non-coherent (diffused) light in a specific color at a specific strength, and no heat is generated in their use. In comparison, lasers produce high-power, coherent (focused) light that can be used to ablate the skin.This modalitiy should NOT be removed from a licensed estheticans scope of practice.
