Chronicle writer Sam Whiting has written about our petition today, Sunday Jan. 22: http://www.sfchronicle.com/movies/article/Menlo-Park-woman-scrambles-to-shield-cinema-from-10874127.php and has a little video with the petition organizer, Judy Adams: http://bit.ly/2iKCtjY He has a photo of the Fox Theater in Redwood City, with the article - a very different neighborhood treasure on a grand scale comparable to Palo Alto's Stanford Theater, but our humble, 300 seat theater is also worthy of notice and saving. The video shows the marquee and some interior decor. He hasn't listed our "tinyurl" that gets directly to this site. As of this morning, we have 2073 signers of our online and paper petitions. I started this petition after learning of the Menlo Park Almanac's Jan. 11 article in hopes of supporting the theater and avoiding its sale for redevelopment, or long-term lease to a leasee other than Landmark Theaters, which remodeled the Guild's sister theater, the Aquarius in Palo Alto. I'm hoping that Landmark will have a change of heart regarding its lease and sign a long-term lease, or that an "angel investor" will buy and save the theater. Thanks to Sam Whiting of the Chronicle.
