A town member is coming after one of our favorite small businesses, Bessie Buhl Eclectic Gardens. Eclectic Gardens is a small roadside business ran off of privately owned property whose owner suffers from terminal cancer, who pays taxes and draws in revenue from all around that goes into the community. This organization has also donated to charity and given back to the community in more ways than one. This revenue is very much needed, with the Water Main Improvement Project that has been ongoing since 2019, the constant expansion of our town, road reconstruction, the failing Annex building on W. School St. that must be repaired, or destroyed and rebuilt.

The reason for closing this small business is because it’s been declared an eyesore. Not because of a scandal, not because of legal pursuits, not because of a lack of funds, but because the town has deemed it as ugly. The town disagrees, the citizens here enjoy its presence and the things the owners can provide. They’re incredibly friendly and welcoming, even if you’re just killing time to browse.

Because the city officials believe it’s ugly, they want to shut down a key small business in a small town.

For this reason, I have created this petition. Please join me in standing up for a small business our town enjoys and takes part in daily.
