No more two hour delays

The Issue

On Sunday, October 26th, 2019 it started to snow. It didn't stop all day. Everyone at Southern Hills Middle School was excited about the possibility of a snow day on Monday. I was excited too. The next morning I got up at 6:30 only to find a two-hour delay. I was disappointed, and when I went to school my whole day felt off.

The two-hour delay system is ineffective because most parents are working. They can't drive to work, come back, drive their students to school, and then go back to work. It is inconvenient for many parents, including mine. We should either use our snow days or not. I understand it is an issue for some kids who wait for the bus. This could be easily solved by the busses coming earlier, so kids could get on immediately.

Now skip to Tuesday, October 29th. It snowed about 7 inches Monday night, and the temperature was a high of 7 degrees and a low of -14. We didn't get a snow day or even a two-hour delay. My mom called us at around 7:40 saying she had done a 360 spin in her car. Thank god she was fine, but the roads were unsafe and BVSD should have called a snow day. It usually takes me 10 minutes to get to school, on Tuesday it took me 30 minutes. I know BVSD only has a few snow days, but last year I don't think we even used one.

It is now Wednesday, and we have another 2-hour delay. It has not stopped snowing for the past 3 days, and we have not gotten a snow day. The last time I remember having a snow day was in 5th grade. It has snowed 5 inches and we had a snow day. Over these 3 days, we have gotten at least a foot of snow. There was even a hazardous weather warning on forcast.weather.gov

I hope you can help me make this change.
