Another Veteran Leader Walks

Recently, the 49ers have yet again let one of their best players walk out the door. Veteran Wide receiver Anquan Boldin is now testing the Free Agency; voiding the final three seasons on a five year contract with San Francisco. At the age of 36, Boldin has been a key playmaker for the 49ers since joining the team in 2013. When he was signed to the 49ers, the transaction made headlines in Sports News. Aside from defeating the 49ers with the Baltimore Ravens back in February 2013, reporters wrote about Boldin's unique ability at an "older age". Before the 2013 season started, many were not certain whether or not Boldin would still be an efficient receiver. However, he has proven to be a reliable weapon to help San Francisco return to the postseason in 2013, and lead in touchdowns in the rather disappointing seasons that followed. He can catch the football when the defense is all over him, and he provides great veteran leadership. Yet, he does not wish to stay with the crumbling team any longer. Boldin said, that he "wants to play for a team that can compete at the highest level". York has already let quality players, and leaders walk out the door last year. With Colin Kaepernick trying to find a way out along with Boldin testing the free agency, it still remains evident that Jed York and Trent Baalke still have yet to bring the team together. With their lack of effort, commitment, and passion, the team will continue to be torn apart.
