Its Still Not Over

Niners Faithful, Forgive me for not updating on a more consistent basis. I've been dealing with more personal matters. Nevertheless, the 49ers are still caught up in the storm that was freshly brewed by York and his sidekick Baalke. Trying to look past their arrogance and their incompetence, I must say that hiring Chip Kelly as a new head coach is quite an upgrade from Jim Tomsula. The offensive woes of the 49ers may have diminished but its not exactly a guarantee for redemption. Chip Kelly was previously Head Coach of the Philadelphia Eagles. Like the 49ers most recent, successful preceding Head Coach Jim Harbaugh, Kelly only served for a few years. During his first year in Philadelphia, the 2013 season, Kelly took a seemingly hopeless Eagles roster to the playoffs. Despite losing to the New Orleans Saints in the first round, the Eagles began to look more interesting. Unfortunately, after coming up short of playoff berth in 2014 (like San Francisco) and a miserable 2015 season, Kelly and the Eagles parted ways. What makes Kelly's transition to the 49ers interesting is that he specializes with mobile quarterbacks like Colin Kaepernick and Blaine Gabbert. He did not exactly have a mobile QB to work with during his tenure in Philadelphia. Though its the perfect opportunity for the struggling but talented QB, Kaepernick reportedly expressed the idea of leaving San Francisco. From what we have seen from the previous two seasons, York and Baalke have been trying to force Kaepernick out of the 49ers organization. They have done nothing to help him find an offensive line that can protect him, nor did they put much effort into finding an offensive coordinator who knows how to utilize a mobile QB. They knew pretty well that Kaepernick is not a pocket Quarterback, yet Baalke and York knowingly appointed offensive coordinator Geep Chryst who lacked the ability to utilize a mobile QB, let alone the offense. Though Chryst has rightfully been fired by the 49ers during the offseason, it does not undo the damage. It appears that Baalke and York had a change of heart about Colin Kaepernick. However, it appears that Kap does not truly feel safe and welcome on this team anymore. We may have found a more suitable head coach for his skill set, but can we even blame him? York and Baalke never defended Mr. Kaepernick in press conferences when fans and so called reporters turned a blind eye to poor play calling, bad coaching, and awful pass protection from the offensive line. The future of the 49ers may cast a brighter shade of gray, but York still cannot be trusted. He lacks the integrity and the leadership thats necessary to manage a team and a fanbase who longs for a Super Bowl. York still has yet to convince us otherwise that he's not just longing for money. He can still make enough money even if fans were to stop watching the television, stop buying apparel, and stop filling up the seats at Levi's Stadium. I think we all can agree that we would rather watch more consecutive playoff pushes by the 49ers without the possibility of the York family ruining another potential Super Bowl team in the making. Jed fired Harbaugh after just one season of missing the postseason. Prior to that, his parents fired Steve Mariucci after leading the 49ers to several postseason appearances with former wide receiver and current nominee for the NFL Hall of Fame, Terrell Owens, and former QB, Jeff Garcia. We have have suffered enough from the greed and the incompetence of the York family. Last night, former 49ers tight end Vernon Davis won the Super Bowl despite being on the bench during the entire game. Keep in mind, that the 49ers got late round draft picks in return. Since the Broncos are the most recent Super Bowl Champions, the 49ers basically got the very last picks of the draft; limiting their chances of picking the players they can really use even further. While Davis has declined before his departure from SF, he was definitely one of the best tight ends San Francisco (and maybe even the NFL) had in a long time. In other words, it was poor decision making any way you slice it. The York family has never showed the same level as passion, devotion, and integrity that relative, Eddie DeBartolo offered to the 49ers and their fan base. Aside from winning five Super Bowl Championships, DeBartolo is currently nominated for the Pro Football Hall of Fame despite being forced to hand over the team he built after violating the NFL's gambling policies. We may not be completely certain that Ellison could match DeBartolo's style and passion for the game. However, his charitable work and the integrity he has demonstrated overshadows the York family as a whole. While we may eventually may need more than just 100 signatures, please share this petition so we can reach the next stage or at the very least come close.
