Bushiroad tournaments are abysmal, regarding the CFV (Cardfight!! Vanguard) format/structure. The current format is as follows:

• Modified Swiss (Cut to top 8), double elimination 
• Best of 1
• 25 Minute rounds with no turns afterwards
• Clan Fight

 Among these horrible rules include:

• Long time between matches (a staffing issue?)
• Under qualified Judges (not all judges are bad!)
• Lack of events, only two events per year, with a small amount of locations
• Top 4 gets invites to Continental Championships

  These environments are not where healthy, fun, and fair competitive scenes start. Bushiroad says none of their games are made to be competitive, but many of their customers, people who invest so much time and money, WANT things to change. 

 Double Elimination makes it unfair for players who travel long distances to compete and support Bushiroad to only be eliminated shortly after the event begins. Best of 1 games allow for luck to decide games and not skill. 25 Minute rounds, giving double game loses to both players if they cannot finish in the allotted time is beyond unfair and cheats everyone involved. Not only that but after all this struggle and barely staying in the tournament, the top 32 players are left with...nothing? Not even a pack? Top cut needs to be proportional to the player population. It's insane that in a 1000 person tournament, 992 people are left with nothing, not even a chance to continue playing in the event.  Overall this format is UNFAIR and UNFUN for the people who support Bushiroad financially. 

Here are the proposed changes to the format for CFV:

• Swiss Rounds (no cutting rounds at the discretion of the head judge)
• 45 Minute Rounds with turns after the initial 45 minutes
• Best of 3
• Clan Fight
• Top cut is proportional to the player population (top 16 when there are 128 participants, etc.)

 As for the other problems. One thing many feel is that the long time between rounds, sometimes upwards of 20 minutes. This is clearly a waste of time, and can be solved with better systems, and more volunteers/staff. There have been two accounts where there has been reportedly Head Judges have been incompetent. Head Judges represent the tournament itself, and having unsatisfactory Head Judges makes the tournament itself unfun, unsatisfactory, and unfair to players and the other volunteer judges.

Only two tournaments are hosted by Bushiroad each year. The people who put their heart and souls into the game have only two times to show it, both being unfair tournaments. There should be other smaller tiered tournaments at the state and local level. These events can be hosted by card shops bringing them business, supporting the card game economy, and bringing communities of players together. As for the regional size tournaments, Canada has only two World Championships Qualifier events, for a country with a huge land mass this feels unfair to players. Similarly to the players in Mexico, Northewest (Dakotas, Montana) and Upper Mideast USA (Ohio, Virginia, etc.).

And invites for only top 4? There are 10 North American World Qualifier events, meaning, Continental Championships have only 40 participants. Without the format change, top 8 still deserves to be invited in the name of fairness. And lastly, CHARGE for tournaments, maybe only $5 or something low, with a 300 player tournament a small $5 entry fee should bring good support. 

 Lastly, on the Bushiroad website, under the words from the CEO there is an excerpt I would like to bring attention to.    

"We aim to be the No.1 TCG company in the world and we will continue taking up challenges. We look forward to your continuous support and guidance in the future."

 Right now the biggest thing in the way of this dream becoming true is Bushiroad themselves. And with each passing day I find myself wanting to quit. But I love this game and the people in it, and do not want to leave it. Nor do I want to watch it sit and rot. Please support these changes.
