It has now been 51 days since BHS Principal Sam Pasarow was precipitously removed from Berkeley High. In the complete vacuum of information, rumors have been rampant. However, evidence points more and more in one direction: backlash on Pasarow’s efforts to improve safety on the BHS campus. On January 23rd, a new comment was posted beneath the Berkeleyside article of January 3rd regarding this very petition; it calls attention to a BHS safety officer posting updates 58 times to his (public) Facebook page during a recent school day. We invite you to follow the link to see the posts: “The silence on the matter from BUSD is starting to get absurd. I watched the January 11th Board meeting and saw that there was a lot of support for Mr. Pasarow tightening “loose nuts and bolts” on the Berkeley High campus. I poked around the school web site and after some google searching, I found that more than one security officer has a public Facebook profile. One security officer updated his profile 50+ times last Thursday while on the job! No wonder BHS has safety issues…” www.bit.ly/bhs_security Tonight, January 25th, the BUSD school board will meet again, and the Berkeley PTA Council Executive Board will once more be there to speak. The meeting will take place at 7:30 p.m. in the BUSD Board Room on Addison Street at Bonar Street, adjacent to the BUSD offices. We welcome and encourage your active participation; make your voice heard by speaking in the public comments portion of the meeting. Signs are welcome. TO TAKE PART IN PUBLIC COMMENT, PLEASE TURN IN A COMMENT CARD BY 7:15 p.m.
