Lancée par Hollaback!

Street harassment, commonly referred to as catcalling, is the most common form of gender-based violence globally. Long-term impacts include depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, and at ihollaback.org, victims report missing school, changing jobs or moving homes to avoid exposure.

The Burt’s Bees packaging pictured here perpetuates the myth that people “like” street harassment that victims “ask for it." They are trying to sell lotion with the promise of the male gaze, when really all we want is lotion from a company that endorses our right to feel safe and confident in public space. As customers of Burt’s Bees, we’re sorely disappointed, and demand an immediate public apology followed by the immediate removal of the product from production.

NOTE: We would like to thank Colleen Kiphart for calling this out on twitter, bringing it to our attention, and co-writing this petition. With amazing women like Colleen on our team, we're confident we can win this.
