24-hour licensing has spawned a toxic drinking culture, stripping the town of its once vibrant atmosphere, replacing it with 6am bar crawls and a deteriorating reputation.

While other towns prosper from roaring early-evening trade, Burnley has become a ‘nightcap nightmare’ with revellers descending on bars at all hours in search of one more drink.
