Dear Burn Beachwood Community,

We wanted to share an important update with you regarding the ongoing situation at Burn Boot Camp Beachwood.

As many of you know, over the past several months, 184 members joined together in support of our trainers to raise collective concerns about the management and operations of our gym. These concerns were outlined in our petition and in two outreach attempts to Christina (which are posted in the updates), requesting a meeting to discuss a path forward.

Today, Christina notified both of us via email that our memberships have been terminated due to “unkind behavior, including negativity and bullying.” She did not provide evidence to support these claims. It’s important to note that we have not communicated with Christina outside of what we have shared with you in the member updates. 

These claims are baseless. They are also hurtful given how important the Burn community and its values are to us.

In addition to terminating our memberships, she is refusing to refund any part of Katie’s paid-in-full annual membership (which she just re-upped less than three months ago).

We have stated, unequivocally, that the terminations of our memberships are without cause, and have asked that they be reinstated immediately. 

We have also reported this situation directly to Burn Boot Camp Corporate Headquarters and are awaiting responses from both Burn and Christina. 

But most of all, we want to say that we are proud of the work we have done in good faith with all of you. Every step of the way, we’ve been constructive and communicative and have hoped (and still hope!) for a positive outcome for the gym and community that has become so important to all of us.

There’s no doubt that these developments raise serious concerns. It’s difficult to see our terminations as anything other than a retaliation for our good faith organizing efforts.
