I just received heartbreaking news that 60 dogs were scheduled to be killed this morning. 55 were euthanized in a city pound. ONLY 5 were saved by good hearted people who ADOPTED them and snatched them from death. 

What did they do wrong? NOTHING!

47 more dogs are scheduled on death row next month. 

And this is just 1 city pound, there are many more.  

Every week, cats and dogs are killed/euthanized because they are a Nuisance and NOBODY wants them. 

I am one with many Animal welfare organisations in the Philippines saying that "Kapon ang solusyon" (Spaying and Neutering is the solution).  It is the most humane way of controlling overpopulation of animals. The government budget intended for killing these street cats and dogs in city pounds can be used for FREE Spaying and Neutering in their own community.

However, this is NOT enough.

I would like to move forward with another solution.  

The government must BAN everyone from the ff:

1. Prohibit everyone from buying from a pet store or breeder but instead, direct them to city pounds to adopt a pet.

2. Revoke all business licenses given to pet shops and breeders selling pets. They should just focus on selling pet care products. (Specially in the area of Cartimar and Tiendesitas).

3. Impose a more serious fine for the violators by strengthening the Animal Welfare Act,  R. A. 8485 with Amended R.A. 10631

4. Reward City pounds with the most number of Adoptions and Spayed/Neutered pets. 

If other countries can do this, why can't we?

Again, WHEN THE BUYING STOPS, the KILLING WILL TOO. So sign the petition.
