Not something we see everyday …. A glue covered fly trap survivor. Many of these little critters do not live through the initial ordeal, so this little boy is extremely lucky.

After intensive assistance and care this little Eastern long-eared Bat (Nyctophilus Bifax) was able to be rehabilitated and released by Tolga Bat Hospital.

He went home and the family who accidentally trapped him threw away all the remaining fly tape.

Unfortunately this is not an uncommon story and doesn’t always have a positive outcome.

Please do not use glue based traps. They are non discriminate and cruel. Our keystone bat populations are under enough pressure without these horrible snares contributing to their decline in numbers.

You can support the Tolga Bat Hosptial in their work by donation at https://tolgabathospital.org/donate/

We are also asking Bunnings Warehouse Australia to stop selling them. You can support that effort here.
