No one enjoys grinding for a weapon for it to be worthless a year later. You made 75% of the weapons obsolete and now its a pain to even find weapons that 1 we enjoy using and 2 are viable options. I here are my 2 ideas to fix the issue of the pinnacle weapons. 

1. Design the pinnacle weapons to only be usable as legendaries for one year, when that is over turn it into an exotic quest. Then you can buff/nerf that very specific weapon when you please.

2. Have the weapons be available for 1.5 to 2 years instead of one. For example there is ONE heavy machine gun that we can use at the beginning of beyond light, the seventh seraph SAW. The only other weapon at this time is the Thermal Erosion which you gain through quests. With a 1.5 year period, we would be able to use fixed odds, bane of sorrow, edgewise, a fine memorial and temporal clause.

With these changes, sunsetting won't be as sudden, removing 3/4 of the weapons while adding in only 31.
