Dugong population in Bundaberg and the surrounding areas have been noticed to significantly decrease each year, since 2005. Dugongs are critical to the ecosystem, as they keep sea grasses healthy, which in turn prevent storms, raise water quality and slow the down the fast rise of climate change.
