Justice and Compensation for Neeasia

The Issue

I am the mother of Neesia, a bright, and enthusiastic third grader. On Wednesday, February 4, 2015, my daughter was brutally and viciously attacked by three male students while on the premises of the school. I received a voice mail from school staff that my daughter had been the victim of an altercation. I immediately rushed to the school and found my daughter extremely distraught. She had marks, and swelling on her arms and legs from the attack. She informed me that she had been sent to the school nurse, however no real treatment was rendered. I immediately petitioned the parent – teacher coordinator Vicky Acevedo Ritter to meet with me and provide me with an explanation of the incident and what actions were taken by school staff, administrators, and security to prevent the incident. I also inquired as to what further actions would be taken to ensure the safety of my daughter. Unfortunately, I was given no clear answers, and my request for any type of formal meeting on the same day of the assault was essentially denied. Subsequent to this incident, my daughter was taken to the emergency room, where she was examined by emergency room physicians. As a result of their negligence to protect and ensure the safety of my daughter while at the school, my daughter has suffered both physical and psychological injuries. This is not the first time my child has been a victim of abuse in this school. I went to the 17 th precinct twice February 5 and 6 begging and pleading to make a juvenile police report. But they denied me both times. An assault took place and it seem no one cares about what happen to my daughter. Please sign the petition and help me make a change. Our children deserve to be in a safe environment while they are learning. My daughter represents your child. I hope my story touch you all hearts and you stand with me on the injustice that is taking place. Each day that go's by Neeasia is suffering for it. As a mother when your child hurt you hurt.  Your child could be next.
