Uk bully dog revision of dangerous dogs act breed list, various breeds to require licence

The Issue

American bully.

License the breed, as well as revise dangerous dogs act list and issue for other breeds as growing trend of irresponsible dog owners.

Unfortunately many young dog owners have jumped on the trend with this bully breed as they do with others and we have already seen a episode of attacks due to irresponsible socialisation training and ownership.

The buying and selling of dogs is somewhat unregulated and unlicensed which is proving problematic with breeds of high prey drive / excercise needs/ requiring more experienced handlers.

Unfortunately this breed is gaining a bad reputation as are other breeds and it’s all due to irresponsible owners.

We often see these dogs in parks with behaviour and temperament issues and many even people aggressive due to lack of care, early socialisation and training and attention.

We also see that these dogs are left under the care and control of those that are incapable of controlling and handling them due to the dogs size and the owners size, as they are often young kids!

The American bully can be a medium to large breed of dog that can easily prove to be dangerous and destructive and overpowering of young inexperienced handlers so can inflict serious damage and even prove fatal to other dogs and people.

I’m strongly suggesting owners of particular breed of dogs, so not singling out this particular breed are licensed in order to ensure responsible ownership. Otherwise we are just waiting for potential tragedies.

Its wrong to ban a breed and even have a dangerous dogs list when there are many breeds both large and small that do not make the list as all dogs have different temperaments as well as their physical appearances.

I would like the government to issue and put revised laws in place, ASAP on all bully type breeds and various other breeds that have a track record for incidents be it large or small breeds (Jack Russell)

The burden should be on the owner not the breeds, license should be issued to the dog owners requiring them to display due care and attention with their pet(s).

It’s cruel to keep large breeds in confined spaces and not giving them the time required for the breed(s). It’s also cruel to not give them the adequate time should they require more as some are more energetic then others.

Many owners are not considerate of living conditions and are selfish as they don’t have suitable accommodation being in flats with shared communal spaces. People that don’t have earnings to cover for the care and cost of maintaining and training particular breeds should not be able to purchase them and hold licenses in the first place. Makes no sense whatsoever and is irresponsible of the government to allow such ownership.

License holders should show they have a reasonable level of control and can physically restrain and control their pet(s) a aptitude test/behaviour/temperament would be a good start and indicator showing if they need to be doing more and getting socialisation and treatment. Some dogs under the license may require being muzzled and maybe even kept on the lead but atleast they can work towards progress with their pet.

We need stricter rules in the UK for many dog breeds, so the dangerous dog breed list should be abolished revised and licensed as well as more penalties burden training put on the dog owners.

Act now safer and better for man and man’s best friend.
