I live blocks from the intersection of U.S. Highway 31 and Old 31 South Highway in Rochester, Fulton County, IN, and can hear the accidents happen in the summer. I have personally helped rescue someone from a damaged vehicle there before. School buses travel this road daily, it's only a matter of time before more people are injured or die.

Years ago, the state agreed to build a bridge over U.S. 31 to stop all of these accidents, with construction supposed to start in 2024. However, this project has been tabled for further study despite almost daily accidents occurring at this dangerous intersection—especially during summer months and when roads are impacted by snow.

We were all looking forward to seeing the state resolve this issue by building a bridge here, just as they did north of us on State Road 14 where accidents have since decreased significantly.
