Your commitment to the CARE Act - a crucial step toward valuing our nation's unpaid family caregivers - is a powerful testament to our community's strength. We reached over 700 signatures because we all know the truth: Caregiving is a national crisis, not a private one.
The fight, however, has intensified.
What's Happening Now is a Crime:
As we push for the basic dignity of support, our government's current inaction - including a partial government shutdown - is compounding the crisis. Every moment that essential funding, resources, and legislative action (like the CARE Act, which I will be proposing during the next Colorado Legislative cycle) are held hostage by political deadlock, it causes real-world harm.
The government's failure to act on care infrastructure creates a vacuum that is filled by families, pushing people out of the workforce, draining life savings, and creating conditions ripe for exploitation and neglect.
We're watching as a lack of systemic support - the very support our petition demands - allows a form of cruelty and neglect by inaction to take root, impacting the most vulnerable among us.
This inaction IS the crime. When the government consciously fails to support its most essential caregivers, it directly jeopardizes the health, safety, and financial well-being of millions of Americans, turning a social need into a human tragedy.
