Old Military Fortress or New Food Market?

We need a full-service grocery store in our community more than the state needs a place to keep its guns.

For over a decade, there has been a redevelopment plan in place at State Center to help improve the quality of life for West Baltimoreans. One of the first amenities for our community would be to repurpose the Armory at State Center into a brand new, full-service grocery story that would provide access to fresh food in a welcoming environment.

Currently 73% of residents in the neighborhoods surrounding the State Center area live in a food desert with limited access to healthy food options.

Join us in asking our elected representatives, Governor Hogan, Mayor Pugh, and City Council President Young, to let us begin the redevelopment of State Center, including a full service grocery story in the currently underused Armory.

Let’s redevelop State Center NOW! Let’s keep 3,000 state jobs here in Baltimore and create 20,000 new ones. Let’s bring a grocery store, new housing, retail and public spaces to the community. Let’s finally enrich and unite West Baltimore with the amenities and economic opportunities it deserves. Learn more at
