Build Roadside Fences and Improve Animal Aid Response for Injured Animals

Build Roadside Fences and Improve Animal Aid Response for Injured Animals
The Issue
I witnessed a near-tragedy when my own dog almost became a victim of a road accident. Gratefully, God intervened and made a miracle to protect her because it was only a matter of seconds but He saved her. Every year we see countless creatures, large and small, sadly left lifeless at the sides of our roads - an often avoidable casualty.
It's not just soul-crushing to see. According to a report by the Federal Highway Administration, there are approximately 1-2 million vehicle collisions with large animals each year in the United States, often resulting in significant vehicle damage, personal injury, or even death. Small animals are also victims but are less documented.
We're calling for a two-step approach to address this issue. First, erecting small fences along roads, especially in areas known for wildlife and other animals to cross or inhabit, can drastically reduce these incidents. This simple and cost-effective solution can divert animals from crossing the roads, thereby preserving their lives and safeguarding motorists. I am thinking of putting fences that have rollers on the top to also prevent animals from climbing over them. Second, to build bridges where there is wildlife so animals can cross for food or etc.
Second, we urge better provision for animal aid to assist those injured on our roads. It's heartbreaking enough when an animal gets hit, but when there's no one with the necessary expertise to help them, the situation compounds. Me and my friend will start being one of these people willing to help but having others join in will be very helpful. By having trained teams on standby for such emergencies, we can save many lives that would otherwise be lost. To also as well, report when someone hits an animal but doesn't stop to check on them.
These animals deserve respect and protection. They should never be allowed simply to lie on the roadside. Let's change their fate. Let's push for roadside fences and improved animal aid. Please sign this petition to call for a safer world for both animals and drivers.
