DISTRICT 27
Count me in! I’m a 100% supporter of the North Domingo Baca Aquatic Center and have been since I first became the Dt. 27 state representative on January 6, 2020.
Dt 27 is on the south side of Paseo del Norte between I25 and Eubank. NDB is actually north of Paseo, but our broad geographical area has only one public pool at Eisenhower Middle School which is only open in the summer.
This part of the NE Hts needs a year-round facility for the thousands of our residents who enjoy playing in water and swimming and for our El Dorado and La Cueva swim teams.
I’ve allocated some $1 million in my capital outlay funds since 2020, secured a $5 million contribution from the Governor (her first for this project), and partnered with City Councilor Brook Bassan in getting capital outlay contributions from other state representatives and state senators.
Do I wish the price of concrete hadn’t gone off the charts? You bet, but as long as I’m the Dt 27 rep, I will be supporting this project.
One of the best things we can do for our communities to reduce crime and anti-social behaviors and encourage mental and physical health is to provide positive opportunities for all ages for exercise, social interaction, competition, relaxation, and fun.

DISTRICT 15 (No opposition)
It has been my honor to support development of the North Domingo Baca Aquatic Center. This facility is much needed in our community to provide swimming and diving pools to our residents, and to eliminate the need for swim teams to leave the state to compete. I look forward to completion of this center in NE Heights!

The team at North Domingo Baca Aquatic Center has displayed the kind of tenacity and determination we need for New Mexico and the City of Albuquerque to realize its full potential.
Citizen-led initiatives like this are what Representatives at every level can endorse because of the positive regional impact they will have for generations. Efforts like this are a great example of how we see a need and work together to meet it.

I'm excited about completing the North Domingo Baca Aquatic Center (NDBAC). When there is a community project that can benefit all of us, this is definitely worth getting behind. When I was a student at UNM in the 1980's, one of our Lobo football players tragically lost his life because he didn't know how to swim at the Jemez dam. He was with his friends and perhaps felt ashamed, as an athlete, to admit that he couldn't swim. This so affected me that I was determined to make sure that my children would know how to swim. They took swim lessons starting as infants and participated in the City Swim Leagues. Affordable swimming and aquatic skills should be available to all residents of all ages, even though we live in the desert. The North Domingo Baca Aquatic Center would offer Albuquerque another facility to serve all of New Mexico for this most important skill and bring in more ways to be a place for competitions, while serving the community with lifesaving skills as well as much needed year-round recreation for a healthy community.

DISTRICT 30
I recognize the importance of expanding community resources like the North Domingo Baca Aquatic Center. If elected, I will actively support capital outlay funding to ensure projects like NDBAC are completed, providing valuable recreational and training facilities for the aquatic community. This is an investment in both public health and in providing young athletes with the facilities they need to thrive. Additionally, it creates economic development for the state and city while bringing a much-needed public pool to council district 4. I appreciate the passion of the aquatic community and will work towards securing the necessary resources for this project.

I am committed to supporting the North Domingo Baca Aquatic Center project in its entirety as your State Representative. It is imperative that New Mexico takes the lead in hosting swim meets locally and in the southwest, as well as other forms of community engagement. Providing lessons on exercise and drowning prevention would be beneficial to the community.
