I love ice skating—it’s my passion and my joy. But living in Geelong, VIC, means I have to travel at least 40 minutes just to find a rink where I can do what I love. This isn't just inconvenient for me; it’s a barrier for many people in our community who enjoy ice sports or want to learn.

Geelong is growing. With a population that soared past 250,000 and continues to increase, the demand for diverse recreational facilities is higher than ever. 

An ice rink is not just a win for skating enthusiasts. It's a multipurpose space that can host ice hockey games, figure skating competitions, and community events. It would provide endless opportunities for local schools, holiday programs, and tourists, further enriching Geelong's vibrant community. Furthermore, it would serve as an economic boost, providing jobs both during construction and for ongoing operations.

Cities like Melbourne and Sydney have realized success with their ice sports facilities, promoting both physical fitness and community wellbeing. Geelong should follow suit, offering its residents the chance to engage in healthier lifestyles without the need to commute.
