Chickasha currently doesn’t have an accessible playground.
Let’s change that!

Benefits of building an accessible park/playground include but are not limited to:

•Improvement in cognitive & sensory development.

•Opportunity for children with or without disabilities to engage, and improve social skills, communication, play, team building, and activities that help teach children how to support their peers.

•Spinning on a merry-go-round helps develop kinesthetic awareness, postural control, as well as improves understanding of speed, force, and directional qualities of movement. And most of all it’s FUN!

•Swinging increases spatial awareness, and helps develop gross motor skills. Swinging helps develop fine motor skills, grip strength, hand, arm and finger coordination. And most of all it’s FUN!

•Rocking stimulates the vestibular system. The combination of our visual senses adapting to changing perspectives, and physically feeling ourselves moving helps our bodies recognize and adjust to rhythmic motion. Rocking develops a sense of balance, and improve coordination. The rhythmic movement of rocking can be calming, helping ease anxiety, and stress. And most of all it’s FUN!

Chickasha should have/be a place for all children to come together & learn from each other. 

•Accessible playgrounds encourage play, which can inspire mutual understanding, friendships, and a real sense of community. Accessible playgrounds also offer new opportunities for community building!
