The Issue

I am one of the many residents in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire who struggles daily with the pain and limited mobility caused by arthritis. Like others in our community, I dream of a place that offers relief, support, and a sense of community — a YMCA with a therapeutic therapy pool.
Currently, the Lakes Region lacks such a facility within easy reach, leaving many of us without access to the therapeutic benefits of warm water exercises. Hydrotherapy has been proven to alleviate pain, improve joint movement, and boost overall physical fitness, especially for those with arthritis and similar conditions. According to the Arthritis Foundation, aquatic exercise can decrease stiffness and improve circulation, offering a much-needed lifeline for individuals dealing with chronic pain.
Building a new YMCA with a therapeutic pool would serve not only seniors like myself but also provide immense benefits to people of all ages in our community who face various health challenges. It would encourage a healthy lifestyle, bring us together, and support those striving for recovery and improved physical well-being.
