Living near the I-90/94 stretch between Lawndale and Western has become tough. The constant traffic noise—often over 75-80 decibels—is making it hard to sleep, focus, and enjoy daily life, even blocks away.

This kind of noise isn’t just annoying—it’s unhealthy. Long-term exposure can lead to stress, heart problems, and other serious issues, especially for kids and older adults.

We’re asking for a sound barrier to be built along this part of the highway. It would reduce noise, improve air quality, and make a real difference for thousands of residents.

6/16/2025 UPDATE: Due to petitioner's comments request is being expanded to include area from Lawndale to Western Avenue because of numerous of schools located in the area to include: Reilly, Avondale-Logandale, Brentano, St. John's Berchmans, Carlos Fuentes, Linne, Millie's Daycare, Concordia Place, and NEIU El Centro.

Additionally, sound barrier is requested on both sides, along with possible planting of trees that might help additionally reduce the noise.
