Build a safe and accessible public skatepark in South Fulton, GA

The Issue

I've always believed that a skatepark should be a place where everyone can come together, regardless of age, skill level, or background. I have always been deeply passionate about skateboarding. However, due to the lack of facilities in our area, I'm forced to make a 48-minute journey to the Newnan skatepark every time I want to use a good facility. This journey isn't just an inconvenience—it's a barrier that prevents many in our community, especially the youth, from accessing a healthy, recreational and potentially life-changing activity.

Newnan, with its own top notch skatepark, reaps immense benefits. It often hosts prestigious events like the Red Bull skateboarding contests, attracting participants and visitors from across the country. This not only boosts the local economy but also brings a sense of pride and unity to the community. I strongly believe that South Fulton has the potential to not just emulate, but exceed what Newnan offers. We can be the home of the best skatepark in Georgia, if not the entire nation.

The land is already available. South of the Wolf Creek Amphitheater lies a perfect spot to build a top-quality skatepark. It's accessible, spacious, and most importantly, it's our own. With the recent rise in property taxes, it's clear the local government has the funds needed for such an investment. It's time for these resources to be used in a way that benefits the community directly. By investing in a public skatepark, we'd be fostering a new generation of skateboarders, providing a safe environment for exercise, and creating a public space that everyone can enjoy.

Furthermore, skateparks are known to reduce crime rates and mischief among the youth, as they provide an outlet for creativity and energy. They are spaces where friendships are forged and communities are built. For South Fulton, a skatepark is not just a want; it's a need.

We urge the local government and city planners to take action and prioritize this project. Let's put South Fulton on the map as a progressive, community-focused city that values its residents and invests in its future. Please sign our petition to show your support for a safe and accessible public skatepark in South Fulton, GA. Together, we can spark change and bring something extraordinary to our community.
